Finding the Perfect Fit: The Connection Between Socks and Fitness

Every Christmas in my stocking I get new socks from my parents.

I love it because

  1. I never have to buy socks
  2. Theyโ€™re nicer socks than I would probably buy myself

My go-to over the years has been black Nike Dri-Fit no show socks. Iโ€™m a simple man with simple needs.

But thereโ€™s one problem.

Every year I open up the socks, put them on, andโ€ฆ.theyโ€™re different.

Theyโ€™re black. They say Nike. They say Dri-Fit. And they โ€œdonโ€™t showโ€, but theyโ€™re not the same as last yearโ€™s set.

I still wear them and they work just fine, but theyโ€™re just not the same.

So why am I telling you about my socks?

Because I think this exists a lot in our world today, especially in fitness.

All the gyms, equipment, coaches, trainers, influencers, etc. โ€œlookโ€ the same. But many times when you try them on, they all fit a bit differently.

Iโ€™ll be honest, I struggle the most with this when it comes to the CrossFit brand that is attached to our name. In a quick google search I just did there are over 10 CrossFit gyms that pop up near me. None of them are associated or tied to MetroEast yet to the consumer we all possess the same name in our brands.

In some instances this can ignite excitement in a potential new customer seeking a certain style of fitness. But in others it can leave a sour taste in their mouth – If they had a poor experience at one gym it might deter them from experiencing another with a similar name.

But let me share the lessons learned from my socks. Although many gyms and trainers may look and sound the same, weโ€™re all different.

Some of us cater to moms, others to dads. Some like working with an older population and others kids. Some will get kicks out of showing you how bada** their workouts are, while others will start by learning who you are and what your goals are (weโ€™re the latter btw).

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s most important though. Even though we might bear similarities and differences, we all have one thing in common – we all want to get you healthier.

So, if itโ€™s running on treadmills, riding bikes, lifting heavy weights, or lifting light weights, itโ€™s all fitness.

Personally at our gym, I believe we possess some special skills and abilities that help people of many ages get healthier regardless of where theyโ€™re starting. We start with your goals, build you a personalized plan, and check in regularly to make sure youโ€™re getting where you want to go. We do this in one on one training, group classes, and even have a group specifically for 55+.

Our youngest client is 13, our oldest is 81 (and has no intention of stopping anytime soon). We believe in pursuing a lifetime of fitness so that you can do all the things you want to do for as long as humanly possible.

Iโ€™ll be the first to say, weโ€™re not for everyone, but I think weโ€™re a really good fit for a lot of people. And the cool thing is if weโ€™re not the right fit for you, we probably know a great gym who is. Our number one priority is to help you see success, even if that means itโ€™s with someone else. Soโ€ฆif fitness is your goal, letโ€™s sit down and talk. You can book that HERE. Even if weโ€™re not the right fit for you, I promise weโ€™ll direct you to another great sock, I mean gym, that is.
