Every Christmas in my stocking I get new socks from my parents.
I love it because
- I never have to buy socks
- Theyโre nicer socks than I would probably buy myself
My go-to over the years has been black Nike Dri-Fit no show socks. Iโm a simple man with simple needs.
But thereโs one problem.
Every year I open up the socks, put them on, andโฆ.theyโre different.
Theyโre black. They say Nike. They say Dri-Fit. And they โdonโt showโ, but theyโre not the same as last yearโs set.
I still wear them and they work just fine, but theyโre just not the same.
So why am I telling you about my socks?
Because I think this exists a lot in our world today, especially in fitness.
All the gyms, equipment, coaches, trainers, influencers, etc. โlookโ the same. But many times when you try them on, they all fit a bit differently.
Iโll be honest, I struggle the most with this when it comes to the CrossFit brand that is attached to our name. In a quick google search I just did there are over 10 CrossFit gyms that pop up near me. None of them are associated or tied to MetroEast yet to the consumer we all possess the same name in our brands.
In some instances this can ignite excitement in a potential new customer seeking a certain style of fitness. But in others it can leave a sour taste in their mouth – If they had a poor experience at one gym it might deter them from experiencing another with a similar name.
But let me share the lessons learned from my socks. Although many gyms and trainers may look and sound the same, weโre all different.
Some of us cater to moms, others to dads. Some like working with an older population and others kids. Some will get kicks out of showing you how bada** their workouts are, while others will start by learning who you are and what your goals are (weโre the latter btw).
Hereโs whatโs most important though. Even though we might bear similarities and differences, we all have one thing in common – we all want to get you healthier.
So, if itโs running on treadmills, riding bikes, lifting heavy weights, or lifting light weights, itโs all fitness.
Personally at our gym, I believe we possess some special skills and abilities that help people of many ages get healthier regardless of where theyโre starting. We start with your goals, build you a personalized plan, and check in regularly to make sure youโre getting where you want to go. We do this in one on one training, group classes, and even have a group specifically for 55+.
Our youngest client is 13, our oldest is 81 (and has no intention of stopping anytime soon). We believe in pursuing a lifetime of fitness so that you can do all the things you want to do for as long as humanly possible.
Iโll be the first to say, weโre not for everyone, but I think weโre a really good fit for a lot of people. And the cool thing is if weโre not the right fit for you, we probably know a great gym who is. Our number one priority is to help you see success, even if that means itโs with someone else. Soโฆif fitness is your goal, letโs sit down and talk. You can book that HERE. Even if weโre not the right fit for you, I promise weโll direct you to another great sock, I mean gym, that is.
